Hungateiclostridium clariflavum DSM 19732 Genome sequencing

Clostridium clariflavum is a thermophilic cellulose degrader closely related to C. thermocellum, with equivalent cellulolytic activity. We have isolated three novel clostridial strains as dominant cellulose degraders in compost enrichments with 16S rRNA gene sequences almost identical (>99% sequence similarity) to C. clariflavum, with xylanolytic activity in addition to high cellulolytic activity. The goal of this project would be to obtain a full sequence of C. clariflavum DSM 19732 and to perform comparative resequencing of xylanolytic strains.
