Naïve CD4+ cells were stimulated with suboptimal numbers of anti-CD3/28 beads with IL-2 (50 U/ml) in serum-free medium without APCs for 5 days with the indicated additives. The markers were assessed by flow cytometry. - no significant change. +/− minimal to modest enhancement. + moderate enhancement. ++ marked enhancement.
