NoVA Farmland Conversion Atlas (2001-2021)

Every patch of one acre or larger of agricultural land that left agriculture between 2001 and 2021 across the 9 Northern Virginia jurisdictions - 2,039 NLCD-derived patches (18,943 acres), each attributed with conversion window, 2021 destination land cover, jurisdiction, census tract, and DBSCAN hotspot cluster. Net regional agricultural land fell 21,137 acres (-11.3 percent); 84.9 percent of conversion became developed land; 82 of 229 mapped data centers stand on former farmland.Produced by the Keystone GIS Northern Virginia Autonomous GIS Research Program.
