资源简介:
The Secretary of the Interior's Report to Congress on the Federal archeology program (SRC) describes the activities and accomplishments of the Federal archeology program between FY 1991-1993. The U.S. Congress requires this report to assess the impact of Federal programs and activities on the nation's archeological heritage. It is required under the Archeological and Historic Preservation Act of 1974 (ARPA) which provides for the preservation of historical and archeological data that might be "irreparably lost or destroyed" as the result of "alterations of the terrain" caused by a Federal agency or federally licensed activity or program. The Secretary of Interior is authorized to coordinate and undertake the recovery, protection, and preservation of such data. These responsibilities have been delegated to the NPS.
