资源简介:
Data presented here are from a suite of sediment cores from the flanks of Axial Seamount on the Juan De Fuca Ridge in the Northeast Pacific Ocean. Cores were collected by ROV using polycarbonate tubes. Cores were subsequently split at the USGS Pacific Science Center in Santa Cruz, CA, where archive halves are now stored. Working core halves were then subsampled at San Jose State University for particle size analysis. Sediments in the cores are a combination of volcanic detritus - volcanic glass and primary igneous minerals (e.g. plagioclase), oceanic crust alteration products – Fe oxyhydroxides and authigenic minerals, and background marine snow – clay minerals, plankton (e.g. foraminifera, radiolaria). Data presented here represented the grain-size distribution of the bulk sediment samples in these cores.
