Slovak Alternating Reading Task in L2 English

The dataset comprises audio recordings and supplement files from Slovak-native speakers (SK0102 to SK1920) who participated in an Alternating Reading Task (ART) in English (De Jong 2022).

The ART experiment involved dyads taking turns reading aloud a neutral English text consisting of 80 sentences, with turn boundaries set within the sentences. To enable comparisons, a solo condition was included where participants read the sentences individually, and an imitation condition required participants to imitate each other during sentence reading. During the ART experiment, or the interactive condition, participants performed the reading task in four rounds. To maintain participants' attention, certain words were replaced with synonyms.

The dataset includes the following files: 
- ART_SK_wav.zip: Contains the audio recordings in WAV (44.1 KHz, 16-bit, mono channel) format.
- ART_SK_meta.csv: Provides participant demographics, including Subject_ID, Age, Sex, Dyad, Speaker_ID, Proficiency (Reading English), and Language.
- ART_texts.csv: Contains the phrases used in the solo condition, with columns for ID, phrase, and the number of words (n_words) in each phrase.
- ART_interactive_texts.xlsx: Consists of multiple sheets (main0, main25, main50, main75) representing the percentage of the total sentence where one word is replaced with its synonym. Each sheet includes columns for main_ID, main1_phrase, and main2_phrase.

This dataset extends the initial version of the Alternating Reading Task in L2 English.
