资源简介:
Two archaeological sites (AZ N:4:38 (ASM) and AZ N:4 :46 (ASM)) were impacted
by construction activities at Dead Horse Ranch State Park in Yavapai County,
Arizona. As part of the archaeological mitigation, pollen, phytolith,
macrofloral, and charcoal seed identification samples were examined from Site AZ
N:4:38(ASM) . This site is a possible prehistoric horticultural or agricultural
site, termed the Rock Pile Site, that also contains an historic trash midden.
Most of the samples examined represent the prehistoric agricultural features,
although one flotation sample and the charcoal/seed identification sample were
recovered from an historic trash dump that tentatively has been dated to 1900-
1920. Pollen, phytolith, and macrofloral analyses of samples from this site were
undertaken to define the agricultural activity associated with prehistoric use
of the site, and macrofloral analysis of the trash pit is used to determine
historic foods and trash.
