Literature suggests that the intestinal microbiota works as a metabolic organ, playing a key role on host health and disease. Evidences that β-glucans positively influence the human intestinal microbiota are still insufficient, and additional studies are needed to exploit their potential.This study compared the fecal microbiota of healthy subjects before (HS) and after (HSβ) two months of diet intervention based on the administration of the minimum recommended daily intake (3 g) of barley β-glucans.
