Project Description This dataset was used to develop algorithms for the utilization of vehicle acceleration, deceleration, and rotation (obtained using accelerometers and gyroscopes) in the identification of vehicle crashes or near-crashes. This identification is hindered by noise introduced into the signal by the instrumentation or road features. The analysis was intended to create robust numerical computation methods that enables correct detection of the vehicle acceleration, deceleration, and rotation in crash or near-crash situations. Data Request Scope The dataset includes data from 1,000 trips in the SHRP 2 NDS containing a mix of crashes, near-crashes, and baselines. Data Specification An "EventSelectionKey" file contains the FILE_ID, EVENT_START_TIME, EVENT_END_TIME, and EVENT_TYPE for each of the trips included in the dataset. The following fields are included for each of the 1000 trips: System.Time_Stamp vtti.timestamp vtti.file_id vtti.accel_x vtti.accel_y vtti.accel_z vtti.gyro_x vtti.gyro_y vtti.gyro_z
