Characteristic dysbiosis in patients with type 2 diabetes and hyperuricemia, and the effect of empagliflozin on the gut microbiota

The project was to investigate the dysbiosis of gut microbiota in patients with type 2 diabetes and hyperuricemia, and effect of empagliflozin on gut microbiota related to uric acid metabolism. We conducted an age- and sex-matched case-control study, recruiting patients with T2DM and hyperuricemia, T2DM, and healthy controls. Additionally, patients with T2DM and hyperuricemia were treated with empagliflozin for 3 months.16S rRNA gene sequencing was used to variation of gut microbiota.
