3D climate velocity dataset, Mediterranean Sea

This dataset provides three-dimensional (3D) analogue climate velocity fields for the Mediterranean Sea, computed by identifying the future (2031–2055) spatial analogues of present-day (2006–2030) climate conditions. Climate velocities represent the rate at which climate conditions are shifting through space, estimated using a climate analogue approach. Both horizontal (km/yr) and vertical velocity (m/yr) components are provided, together with the spatial coordinates of the closest future climate analogue for each grid point. Data are provided for the full water column and for four depth-defined biozones: euphotic (0–50 m), mesophotic (30–250 m), mesopelagic (200–1250 m), and bathyabyssopelagic (1000–5500 m). For the biozone-specific datasets, the analogue search is restricted to within each depth zone, constraining the vertical displacement of the identified analogue. A no analogue flag identifies grid points where no suitable climate analogue was found. Data are provided as NetCDF files (one per depth zone) and as GeoTiff rasters for individual depth layers.
