资源简介:
This research investigates the factors influencing teenage pregnancy in Mukubwe Chiefdom, Ngabwe District, with a focus on understanding the socio-cultural, economic, and educational determinants. Teenage pregnancy remains a critical issue with far-reaching consequences for young people's health, education, and future opportunities. Using a mixed-methods approach, the study combines quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews to explore the underlying causes of teenage pregnancy in the region. Data were gathered from 150 participants, including teenagers, parents, community leaders, and healthcare providers. The findings indicate that socio-cultural factors such as early marriage, traditional beliefs, and peer pressure, along with economic constraints, limited access to education, and inadequate healthcare services, play a significant role in the prevalence of teenage pregnancies in Mukubwe. Additionally, the study reveals that lack of comprehensive sex education and inadequate parental involvement further exacerbate the situation. The report concludes by recommending targeted interventions, including enhanced sexual and reproductive health education, improved healthcare access, community sensitization, and policies that address gender inequality and economic empowerment. This research provides valuable insights into the factors contributing to teenage pregnancy in rural Zambia and offers practical recommendations for policymakers, educators, and community leaders to mitigate the issue.
