Soils contaminated with petroleum, diesel and gasoline oil, respectively, were used to investigate the impact of each oil on the microbial community composition and diversity by using molecular methods based on 16S rRNA and ITS gene sequencing to assess both bacteria and fungi, and biochemical method based on plate counts to determine the number of culturable strains and able to degrade oil.
