HMA 8-m DEM Mosaic v2: Chamoli Region

Subset of the v2 High-mountain Asia DEM mosaic products (generated 2018-12-01) for the Chamoli region. 

This is a to-be-released update to the existing v1 HMA DEM Mosaic products available on NSIDC HiMAT data portal: https://nsidc.org/data/HMA_DEM8m_MOS/versions/1.  Please see NSIDC User Guide and Shean et. al (2020) Frontiers in Earth Science paper (https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/feart.2019.00363/full) for additional details on processing and citation.

The weighted-average composite product (*_wmean.tif) was created from all available 8-m DEMs (both along-track and cross-track strip products), which were all individually co-registered to a filtered/masked version of the TanDEM-X 90 m DEM.  

Additional data layers in this repository include a shaded relief map (*_hs.tif), per-pixel DEM count (*_count.tif), and per-pixel normalized median absolute deviation (NMAD in meters, *_nmad.tif).  All files are tiled, LZW-compressed GeoTiff format with internal overviews (GDAL gauss resampling, to help fill gaps).

There are residual data gaps due missing data in the input strip DEMS (due to limited coverage, clouds, or failed stereo correlation). The per-pixel count map shows a limited number of input DEMs over the area affected by the February 7, 2021 event.  Additional post-event stereo DEMs will help fill residual gaps.

Also included is a set of products for a smaller extent (*crop.tif) on river reaches affected by the February 7, 2021 event.
