Dual-functionalised Fluorescently Labelled Pharmacological Tools: Synthesis and Analysis of Click-to-release Cancer Therapy and PET Tracers

Cancer remains a leading cause of death, with 9.7 million fatalities reported in 2022. While antibody-based therapies show promise, tools to evaluate their safety and mechanisms are limited. This thesis focuses on developing fluorescent probes to study these therapies in greater detail. The research enabled tracking of anti-cancer drug delivery to cancer cells and provided insights into how antibody delivery systems function. These tools support the design of safer, more effective treatments and have the potential to improve patient outcomes through better understanding and optimisation of therapeutic strategies.
