Characterization or Exposure and Risk in Colombian ASGM Communities
收藏资源简介:
A mixed-method approach was utilized to better understand the perceptions and risks associated with artisanal and small-scale gold mining practiced in the communities of Yolombó and La Toma in Colombia. The measures included herein are (i) a survey given to community members by researchers from Universidad Del Valle in 2020 and (ii) dietary consumption diaries given to community members in 2022. Surveys addressed topics such as (i) perceptions of mercury use in ASGM, (ii) common practices related to mining and personal protective equipment use, (iii) consumption of locally sourced water, fish, meats, and fruit, (iv) and access to water research and sanitation services. Dietary consumption diaries further assessed the consumption of locally sourced water and fish to better quantify estimates of human exposure.
