The study focused on addressing environmental concerns related to the increasing consumption of Polyurethanes (PUR) and the release of microplastics into ecosystems. The biopospecting of environments contaminated with PUR residues was performed to isolate microorganisms capable of degrading PUR. Metataxonomic and metagenomic approaches were employed to characterize microbial communities and specific strains. Metatranscriptomic analyses were conducted to identify potential enzymes involved in PUR degradation.
