It consists of multiple independent databases, each with its own taxonomic information, reference literature, image collections, and editorial staff. Originally developed for the Nannotax website, Mikrotax supports research on various micropaleontological taxa, including calcareous nannofossils, foraminifera, radiolaria, and others. The system has a highly navigable image-based user interface, enabling effective exploration of taxonomy and biodiversity, and provides data retrieval functions for individual taxonomic units.
