InFER

InFER is a dataset specifically designed for multi-ethnic facial expression recognition in India, developed by the Department of Computer Science and Information Systems at BITS Pilani, India. This dataset contains 10,200 images and 4,200 short videos, covering seven basic facial expressions expressed by 600 Indian individuals across diverse ethnic backgrounds, age groups and genders. The creation of the InFER dataset involves collecting posed facial expressions from 600 voluntary participants, as well as 6,000 spontaneous/acted facial expression images crowdsourced from the Internet. The InFER dataset aims to address the challenge of facial expression recognition among India's demographically diverse population, and supports research in the fields of deep learning and computer vision.
