VPRS 21363 Court of Petty Sessions/Magistrates' Court Index to Probation Orders Filed

This series contains an index to probation orders filed at Camberwell Court of Petty Sessions/Magistrates' Court. Each entry in the index gives details of the name of the person who received a probation order, the date of the order, their offence, and the location the order was sent along with an identifying number. Probation usually followed a period of temporary release from prison, known as parole, which tested a person's reform. If the prisoner met the requirements of parole, a recommendation for release on probation was granted and the period of probation was usually for a number of years.
