Ecological data was collected from a 50 x 20 m plot situated in a uniformly vegetated area, utilizing the Braun-Blanquet (1932) method, with a particular focus on the presence of vanilla vines. To ensure robustness, three similar plots were established at each site. The sampling encompassed all trees and shrubs with a diameter at breast height (dbh) exceeding 5 cm. Pertinent information regarding each specimen, such as diameter at breast height, maximum height, and local vernacular name, was meticulously recorded. Comprehensive documentation included the total count of trees and phorophytes within each plot. Furthermore, specific attention was given to recording the number of vanilla individuals growing on each phorophyte. The study sites were Ambatofaly (ABF), Ampitolova (APL) in the northern part of Madagascar and Ampotaka (APTK), Vohitsara (VHT) in the southern part.
