Hydrogeologic Characteristics and Water Supply of the Patapsco Aquifers in Southern Maryland

This data set included population growth statistics in the southern
Maryland region, a map of the aquifers currently used in southern
Maryland, ground water levels, cross sections of Maryland's
hydrogeological units and ground water altitudes for Calvert
County. Field study data includes maps of proposed drill sites and
selected well locations in southern Maryland. Data being collected by
well drilling allows researchers to gather information on the
ground water behavior in the Patapsco aquifer.

The objective of the proposed assessment is to obtain additional
hydrogeologic information regarding the upper, middle, and lower
Patapsco aquifers in eastern Charles County, Calvert County, and
St. Mary's County; to integrate these data into a quantitative
assessment of the aquifers' capacity to supply future water demands in
the tri-county region; and to construct observation wells to monitor
future changes in Patapsco water levels.
