Aim: As one of the most common migratory locust species in the China-Kazakhstan border region, Calliptamus italicus has posed a serious threat to regional ecological security. While existing studies mainly focus on identifying potential suitable habitats, integrating habitat suitability with population density information is essential for improving targeted locust disaster prevention and control.Location: China-Kazakhstan border regionMethods: This study used field-surveyed occurrence and population density data in combination with the Biomod2 platform and the random forest algorithm to predict the potential suitable areas of Calliptamus italicus in the China-Kazakhstan border region and to further delineate risk zones.
