The data for this survey was collected from 2663 primary school pupils from 27 districts in 50 primary schools nationwide in Malawi. The age range of pupils participating in the survey was 10 to 21 years of age. 69% of pupils were from the 10-14 age group, the mean age was 14. The survey acts as a baseline knowledge attitudes and practice survey prior to Youth Alert! potentially working in primary schools in Malawi. The study recommended that; Information is needed about improving HIV personal risk perception for Primary School pupils. To ensure that these messages reach pupils in all standards from 1-8 messages may need to be translated into Tumbuka and Yao, for use in the Northern and Central regions respectively.
