mythLOD

The mythLOD dataset was developed by the Advanced Research Center for Digital Humanities at the University of Bologna, with the objective of enhancing the value of cultural collections through semantic web technologies. This dataset includes data converted from the Mythologiae digital collection, with a core focus on formally linking visual artworks, their expert interpretations, and literary sources. The development process of the dataset involves defining data models, data cleaning and entity linking, converting tabular data into graph structures, and conducting validation activities, including reviews by domain experts using competency questions and two customized data visualizations. The mythLOD platform not only provides access to the dataset and detailed research documentation, but also features two data visualization spaces: an online catalog and a narrative experiment focused on the *Aeneid*. These spaces function as user-friendly test units for the dataset, while also serving as supplementary tools for project documentation and collection exploration.
