Investigation of proximity-induced magnetism and chiral magnetic domains in Dy-doped nickel ferrite interfaced with Pt/Pd

To study the effect temperature, thickness and Pt cover layer has on the magnetic properties, our goal is to perform the XMCD and XRMS experiments using films of pristine Dy:NiZAF of 5 and 40 nm thickness and interfaced with a Pt layer of 2 and 5 nm while Pd layer of 2 nm thickness. Some of our results obtained by SQUID, MOKE, XMCD and XRMS, the latter two derived from experiments at ALBA are summarized in Fig.1, which can be interpreted that a non-collinear spin-structure in Dy:NiZAF is stabilized below 200 K. Consequently, interfacial DMI induced chiral magnetic domains and proximity-induced magnetism is expected to appear after interfacing it with a heavy element like Pt which has a strong SOC. Therefore, our study proposes XMCD measurements to study the magnetic proximity effect in Pt/Pd deposited adjacent to Dy:NiZAF samples and XRMS measurements to probe the chiral magnetic domains induced by interfacial DMI.
