Time since mining alters fungal community structure, but not abundance of fungal guilds, in forests of the Appalachian region of Ohio

The files included here were used to analyze fungal community data from reclaimed mineland at The Wilds Safari Park in Cumberland, OH, USA. Large scale mining began at this location in 1969, and the land was reclaimed in 1981. Following reclamation, the land was restored to natural habitat, including both old fields and deciduous hardwood forests. For the current study, 15 forested sites were selected that vary in their stand age (used as proxy for time since mining). Three of the 15 sites were not mined and serve as a reference condition. The remaining 12 sites include three sites each with a time since mining of 60 years, 45-55 years, 35-45 years, or under 40 years.
