BRONZESITES_IBERIA 1.0: Digital Archaeological Database of 1445 Bronze Age Settlements from Central-Eastern Iberia
收藏资源简介:
BRONZESITES_IBERIA 1.0 is a digital archaeological database documenting Bronze Age settlements and material evidence in central-eastern Iberia. It was developed as a research resource for the systematic analysis of settlement patterns, productive activities, technological practices, and economic organisation during the Bronze Age. The database is conceived as an open-ended research resource that can be further updated, reviewed, and expanded as new archaeological evidence and research become available. The database originated as the beta version DATA-BRONCE, created in 2017 as part of the doctoral research of Peres (2021). BRONZESITES_IBERIA 1.0, used in Peres and Risch (2022, 2023), incorporates a major revision and expansion undertaken in 2021. This revision included contributions from María Jesús de Pedro Michó (Museu de Prehistòria de València), Javier Jover Maestre (Universidad de Alicante), and Pedro Díaz-del-Río (Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas). Version 1.0 contains information on 1,445 archaeological sites, of which 1,320 are documented through archaeological survey and 125 through partial or complete excavation. The database covers an observation area of approximately 117,444 km², corresponding to territories occupied during the Early Bronze Age (2200–1550 BCE) by communities traditionally associated with the pit fields of the southern Meseta, the hilltop settlements of the Montes de Toledo, the Motilla culture of the La Mancha plain, the morras and castellones of eastern La Mancha, and Bronze Age communities in the Iberian Levant and the Teruel sector of the Iberian System. The database covers parts of 11 present-day Spanish provinces: Madrid, Guadalajara, Toledo, Cuenca, Ciudad Real, Albacete, Murcia, Alicante, Valencia, Castellón, and Teruel. For security and heritage-protection reasons, geographical coordinates of individual archaeological sites are not included in the dataset. However, bibliographic references and the sources used to document each site are provided, allowing the archaeological evidence and its documentation to be traced and evaluated. The dataset provides a structured basis for spatial, comparative, and quantitative analyses of Bronze Age settlement and economic organisation in central-eastern Iberia. Although the database was originally developed to support the analyses presented in Peres and Risch (2022, 2023), it is intended as a reusable research resource for further archaeological research and comparative studies of Bronze Age societies in Iberia.
