This series comprises cash books, which record credit and debit transactions from/to the Cabinet Fund Account. Payments to suppliers of refreshments, cigars and cigarettes were posted to this Fund. Other regular expenditure from this account were monthly allowance payments to members of Parliament.It would seem that members of Cabinet with portfolios made a monthly contribution to the Cabinet Fund, and this money paid for a monthly allowance to ministers without portfolios, and to the Secretary to Cabinet and the Government Whip.
