Lactobacillus paracasei ssp. paracasei strain BGSJ2-8 was isolated from artisanal home-made semi-hard cheese in Serbia. It has been used as adjunct culture for development of aroma and flavour during the process of cheese ripening. The objective of this study is to assemble the genome sequence data, to assign the functional annotations to the genome and to identify strain-specific genes or gene clusters and other interesting genetic targets which characterize the bacterial strain.
