Salivary microbiome signatures of Poles and Serbians

Salivary samples were obtained from 80 healthy persons 40±6 years old of the Polish and Serbian origin. All samples were collected in April 2022. DNA was isolated using an organic method. Microbiome libraries targeting the V3 and V4 regions of the 16S rRNA were prepared via PCR using primers designed by Klindworth et al. 2013. Next, Illumina-specific indexes were added, and libraries were purified using AMPure Beads. The pooled libraries were sequenced on the Illumina MiSeq System using MiSeq Reagent Kit v3 (600 cycles), following the manufacturer's protocol.
