LEVERAGING BIG DATA ANALYTICS IN THE BANKING INDUSTRY: AN AFFORDANCE ACTUALISATION PERSPECTIVE

The availability of real-time data in large volumes and the increasing analytical capabilities change the current business landscape and the decision-making process. This study investigates how businesses leverage and derive value from big data analytics (BDA). The study also probes the various implementation constraints organisations face in the leveraging of BDA and how they overcome them. The results from this study illustrate how the successful leveraging of BDA depends not only on the technological capabilities of the firm but also on various organisational and institutional factors. The findings contribute to the current literature, policy-makers and business practitioners.
