VPRS 4423 Court of Petty Sessions Summons Book

According to various Clerk of Courts Manuals, the details of summons issued by a court were to be recorded in relevant entry in the Court of Petty Sessions Register. The Manual also recognised that this might not always be possible at "all courts where the business is heavy and the Register is not always available." It therefore indicated that the a rough book should be created for the entry of every summons as soon as it was made out. Details could then be written up in the Register afterwards.Information recorded in this Summons Book includes the names of the defendant and complainant, date of issue of summons, nature of offence committed and general remarks.
