全球高温热浪指标数据集是使用NOAA物理科学实验室提供的全球每日最高气温0.5°空间分辨率数据,采用John R. Nairn and Robert J. B. The Global High-temperature Heatwave Index Dataset is developed using global daily maximum temperature data with 0.5° spatial resolution provided by the NOAA Physical Sciences Laboratory, and calculated with the Excess Heat Factor (EHF) index proposed by John R. Nairn and Robert J. B. Fawcett in 2013. The thresholds are set as the 95th percentile temperature of local daily maximum temperature time series over the 1980–2005 period, as recommended by the IPCC. This dataset does not cover the Antarctic region.
This dataset only considers periods when extreme heatwaves are likely to occur: October to April of the following year in the Southern Hemisphere, and April to October in the Northern Hemisphere. By excluding warm spells occurring during cold periods, it better differentiates the spatial characteristics of high-temperature heatwave events across different regions.
The Global High-temperature Heatwave Index Dataset contains daily heatwave event records from 1979 to 2020 (files named EHF_record_spell_xxxx.nc), with specific attributes including: a binary flag indicating whether a heatwave event occurred (heatwave_EHF), the EHF intensity (EHF), and the duration of the heatwave event (spell_all); the 95th percentile temperature threshold file for 1980–2005 (pct_NF13.nc); and the annual statistical summary file for heatwave events from 1979 to 2020 (yearly_Summary_1979-2020.nc).
