Nosocomial infections caused by Acinetobacter baumannii represent a significant source of morbidity and mortality, a problem that is likely to become more severe given the propensity for this organism to acquire resistance to all available antibiotics. This report describes the isolation, characterisation and genome annotation of the lytic Acinetobacter siphovirus vB_AbaS_Loki. Loki was isolated from activated sludge and propagates on A. baumannii ATCC 17978. Sequencing revealed that Loki encapsulates a 41,308 bp genome, encoding 51 open reading frames. Loki is most closely related to Acinetobacter phage IME_AB3 and more distantly related to Burkolderia phage KL1, Paracoccus phage vB_PmaS_IMEP1 and Pseudomonas phages vB_Pae_Kakheti25, vB_PaeS_SCH_Ab26 and PA73.
