Carved wooden pew end, in St.Bartholomew's Church, Crewkerne, Somerset, UK. This shows a serpent at the foot of a tree -- but instead of an apple tree, there are vine leaves and stylised bunches of grapes. I presume this is the work of Francis Nicholls, whose likeness is carved into another pew end with an inscription "Emigravit Aug 17 1900. 'Si quœris monumentum circumspice'".
