Searching for compact central source in the radio supernova remanent MSH 10 53S

A significant excess of very high energy (VHE) gammaray emission is observed byH.E.S.S. inside the shell of SNR G284.31.8. This source is found to bepointlike or only slightly extended and at a distance of 0.33d from PSRJ10165857. A 1.8 ks Einstein observation reveal a significant excess compatiblewith the VHE source. This association suggests that this could be the actual PWNof MSH 1053. The estimated flux suggests that this object should be easilydetectable by XMMNewton.
