# New Zealand Geospatial Data

Geography - Boundaries & Insights - New Zealand - Free data listing includes data sets sourced from the [LINZ Data Service](https://data.linz.govt.nz/) (Toitū Te Whenua Land Information New Zealand) and licensed for reuse under the [CC BY 4.0](https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/) licence.

## Building Outlines (LINZ)

This dataset provides current outlines of buildings within mainland New Zealand captured from the latest aerial imagery.

A building outline is a 2D representation of the roof outline of a building which has been classified from LINZ aerial imagery using a combination of automated and manual processes to extract and refine a building roof outline.

Building outlines observed in aerial imagery larger than or equal to 10 square meters are captured in this dataset, and may include structures such as garages and large sheds.

## Primary Road Parcels (LINZ)

This layer provides the **current** road parcel polygons with associated descriptive data.

The combination of this layer with the other land parcels and hydro parcels equates to the primary parcels layer which provides all current parcels for New Zealand (i.e. excludes historic and pending parcels).

This set of three parcel layers (land, hydro and road) enables easy access to the most common groupings of parcel intents (excluding the non primary parcels).

This layer has a nominal accuracy of 0.1-1m in urban areas and 1-100m in rural areas. ## Land Districts (LINZ)

This layer provides Land District shapes and their name.

A Land District is an administrative area that all titles and surveys were registered against prior to Landonline. It is required to uniquely identify survey and title records created prior to Landonline.

## Suburbs and Localities (LINZ)

NZ Suburbs and Localities describes the spatial extent and name of communities in urban areas (suburbs) and rural areas (localities) for navigation and location purposes.

The suburb and locality boundaries cover New Zealand including North Island, South Island, Stewart Island/Rakiura, Chatham Islands, and nearby offshore islands.

Each suburb and locality is assigned a name, major name, Territorial Authority and, if appropriate, additional in use names. A population estimate is provided for each suburb and locality by Stats NZ.
