Genome sequences of members of the Fusarium incarnatum-equiseti species complex. Fusarium inacarnatum-equiseti species complex

The Fusarium incarnatum-equiseti species complex consists of over 35 fungal species that are typically considered weak plant pathogens. Nevertheless, they are frequently isolated from cereals and other crops plants grown in temperate, tropical and semitropical regions. Some members of the species complex have also been isolated from humans and insects, but they are considered to be opportunistic pathogens. All isolates examined to date have genes that confer the ability to produce the mycotoxins trichothecenes. However, multiple studies have shown that the ability to produce trichothecenes varies markedly among strains and species when they are grown in/on laboratory growth media.
