资源简介:
Bacillus clausii is a probiotic bacterium widely recognized for its beneficial effects on gut health and immune modulation. This strain, HMP9, has been isolated and studied for its potential application in preventing mastitis, a common and economically significant inflammatory disease in dairy cattle. Mastitis, primarily caused by bacterial infections, leads to reduced milk quality and production losses, necessitating effective preventive measures beyond conventional antibiotic treatments.Unlike traditional probiotics primarily associated with gastrointestinal benefits, Bacillus clausii HMP9 exhibits antimicrobial properties and immune-modulating effects that may help prevent bovine mastitis. The strain demonstrates competitive exclusion against mastitis-causing pathogens such as Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli, effectively inhibiting their growth through the production of antimicrobial peptides and secondary metabolites. Additionally, its spore-forming nature ensures resilience under harsh environmental conditions, making it an ideal candidate for integration into livestock feed or teat disinfectant formulations. This whole-genome sequencing project aims to elucidate the genetic mechanisms underlying the probiotic potential of Bacillus clausii HMP9. The genome assembly was generated using Illumina sequencing technology, followed by assembly with SPAdes. The annotated genome provides insights into genes responsible for antibiotic resistance, stress tolerance, and bacteriocin production, which contribute to its survival and efficacy in mastitis prevention.By leveraging the probiotic and antimicrobial properties of Bacillus clausii HMP9, this research supports the development of alternative, antibiotic-free approaches for mastitis management in dairy farming. The findings could pave the way for sustainable livestock health solutions, reducing antibiotic dependency and promoting overall animal welfare.
