Comparison of miRNA expression between primary tissue, patient-derived cancer model, and FFPE tissue

We investigated whether we could use RNA from tumor purified formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue for small RNA sequencing to obatin comparable results to RNA from the primary tumor. Overall design: Therefore, we utilized four patient tumors and compared RNA from three different sources each: The primary tumor (or the metastasis), a patient-derived cancer model (PDCM), which was either a spheroid, organoid, or frozen viable, and the FFPE tissue from the routine pathology procedure.
