资源简介:

This dataset contains the raw and processed data supporting the article:“Biotechnological model for ubiquitous mixed petroleum- and bio-based plastics degradation and upcycling into bacterial nanocellulose” (DOI: doi.org/10.1016/j.jclepro.2024.141025).The dataset includes:• Zipped file (1 figure and 6 spreadsheets)• readme.txt as a metadata fileThe dataset is linked to the publication for transparency and compliance with FAIR principles. The data and files contained in this dataset are related to the study suggesting a biotechnological model system for the sustainable management of mixed (petro-bio)plastic waste. Post-consumer plastic waste often combines petroleum-based plastics with bioplastics, creating mixed (petro-bio)plastic streams that obstruct mechanical recycling and complicate sustainable end-of-life (EoL) solutions. A biotechnological approach using synergistic enzymatic degradation of PET and thermoplastic starch (TPS) by leaf-branch compost cutinase (LCCICCG) and commercial amylase (AMY) was presented. This combined treatment boosted decomposition 2.6- and 4.4-fold at 70 °C over four days, producing sugars and terephthalic acid (TPA). The resulting hydrolysates are upcycled into bacterial nanocellulose (BNC) by Komagataeibacter medellinensis, yielding 3 g L⁻¹ in 10 days. This method offers a promising path for sustainable management and circular reuse of mixed plastic waste.
