Anthropogenic activities are one of the important selection forces leading the shaping up of the microbial community structure and dynamics. On the other hand, microorganisms evolve rapidly to adapt to the adverse ecological niches through acquiring metabolic functions so that they not only tolerate but also metabolize the anthropogenic compounds and utilize them as the source of carbon and energy. This scenario enables evolution and enrichment of valuable genetic resources.With metagenomics based analyses of the microbial communities within the textile effluent streams, we aim to identify novel genes with functions for tolerance and metabolism of textile effluent associated anthropogenic compounds.
