Household Survey Instrument, January 19, 2018: Wave 2

This collection archives instruments and planning materials related to the household survey for Wave 2 of the Lumberton, NC Field Study in support of on-going research in the Center for Risk-Based Community Resilience Planning, a NIST-funded Center of Excellence, including modeling efforts on housing damage, household dislocation, household relocation, and housing repair and recovery in place. Continuing the work from Wave 1, the survey collected data through determinations made by the interviewing team or on the basis of information obtained from surrounding neighbors, property managers (or some other source), or adult members of the occupying household. Specific goals for Wave 2 were (1) Fill in missing information on initial damage not captured during Wave 1; (2) Gain better documentation on how long it took households to repair their homes considering different initial damage levels, income levels, available recovery resources, and socio-demographic characteristics; (3) Better understand what interdependent infrastructures and services were considered in the households’ decision to return to their home; and (4) Obtain household-level data on a range of factors that are expected to influence housing recovery, including incoming financial resources.
