资源简介:
Post-kala-azar dermal leishmaniasis (PKDL) is a non-lethal dermal sequel of visceral leishmaniasis caused by Leishmania donovani. Around 2.5 to 20% of cured VL patients from Asia and 50-60% from Africa develop PKDL. In addition 10 to 23% cases develops PKDL in which patients have no prior VL history. Patients with PKDL have been associated to anthroponotic transmission of Leishmania donovani. Drug resistance is a major reason behind treatment failure in Leishmania which further leads to development of PKDL. Leishmania parasites rapidly alter their genome during changing environmental conditions and drug pressure. To address the role of genomic variation in increasing drug resistance and PKDL occurrences, the whole genome sequence of L. donovani clinical isolates derived from PKDL patient (India) was analysed.
