资源简介:
RESEARCH BACKGROUND: 'Do you dream of me at night?' is an exhibition audio guide produced in response to 'Walter Van Beirendonck: Dream the World Awake' - a major international retrospective of one of the Antwerp Six. It is a 25-minute audio recording of the researcher reading a prose piece (which she produced); the prose is based on a surreal dream-interpretation of Van Beirendonck's world, reimagined. The audio guide worked as an overlay to the exhibition; audience members were invited to download the track to accompany their visits. The audio guide was also written in a way such that it could be experienced outside the physical exhibition. The exhibition at the RMIT Design Hub received full funding from an external source. It was brought out by the Fashion Museum in Antwerp (MoMu). RESEARCH CONTRIBUTION: 'Do you dream of me at night?' is part of an ongoing research investigation into the potential of textual expression in the communication and dissemination of fashion-based ideas and concepts. For this project, the researcher tested the power of recorded voice and explored the intimacy of reading and listening closely to an evocative prose-piece. This research project also attempted to expand the use of textual and audio expression in the exhibition context. RESEARCH SIGNIFICANCE: The exhibition originated in the internationally prominent Fashion Museum in Antwerp. Walter Van Beirendonck and MoMu curator Kaat Debo, along with their entire design and curatorial team, were present during the Melbourne exhibition, which was opened by Chris Dercon, the Director of Tate Modern. The 3-month exhibition drew a record number of visitors.
