The genome of the basidiomycete Cutaneotrichosporon oleaginosum ATCC20508 was sequenced and assembled. Cutaneotrichosporon oleaginosum is a basidiomycete yeast of the order Trichosporonales, which is a sister group to the Tremellales within the Tremellomycetes. The aim of this project was the comparison of the Cutaneotrichosporon oleaginosum genome to other Tremellomycete genomes to analyze the evolution of the mating type region, which is involved in sexual development in fungi.
