Azadirachta indica (neem) genome and transcriptome

Neem (Azadirachta indica) is an important plant species. The plant is used for both pesticidal and medicinal usage for centuries in parts of Asia, especially India. Neem seed kernels are an important source for terpenoids. Azadirachtin, a neem-derived terpenoid is shown to have activities against a wide variety of agricultural pests. Despite it's economic value, very little is known about the plant at a molecular level. We have sequenced the genome and transcriptome of the plant from four organs, stem, leaf, root and flower.
