资源简介:
Pottery lid from the wreck of the Earl Of Abergavenny. ID: EOA:2022.47.2 Collection: Earl of Abergavenny Classification: Crew/Passengers Measurements: Diametre 76mm Height 43mm Date made: as yet unknown Display: not on display Manufacturer/Creator: as yet unknown Credit: Portland Museum Trust Identified as Canton porcelain this small lid comes possibly from a one person tea pot, pudding cup or milk jug. Canton porcelain is so called as it originated from Guangzhou, China. At the time of the Earl of Abergavenny's voyage, Guangzhou was the sole Chinese port for legally exporting goods to Europe and familiar to the ship from her previous trips. It is possible that this lid belonged to one of the thirty two Chinese crew on board, seventeen of whom perished in the sinking.
