The thermoacidophilic archaeal organism Sulfuracidifex metallicus has biotechnological potential as a bioleaching platform for solubilization of valuable metals due to its ability to oxidize sulfur species and grow chemolithoautotrophically, and it has served as a model for understanding high-temperature bioleaching mechanisms. This study aims to provide a closed circular genome for Sulfuracidifex metallicus in order to define its genetic content as it relates to bioleaching and chemolithoautotrophic capabilities.
